Water For Elephants 3
I recently finished Water For Elephants. After much decision changing I have finally decided that the book is set in the depression era. I know this for a fact. The circus got an elephant named Rosie and Jacob and Marlena are responsible for creating an amazing act for this elephant. Jacob discovers that by speaking commands in polish, the elephant can do amazing things! After Rosie's first show, which went extremely well, Marlena decided to throw a party for August to celebrate. August shares his suspicions of Marlena and Jacob's relationship and Jacob and August end up in a fist fight. That night, Jacob's friends from the circus are redlighted (thrown off) the moving train as a threat to Jacob from August. Because of Jacob's new found hatred for August, he attempts to slice August's throat in his sleep. When he arrives at August's bedside, his morals get the best of him and he doesn't kill August. The next day, many of the circus performers are told that they wont be getting paid, so they let out all of the animals during the show. Everything become chaos and in the end...well, I won't spoil it. Jacob's 90 year old self is found alone without his family when icrcus time comes around. He learns that his family forgot it was their day to visit him. He also learns that his favorite nurse, Rosemary, will be leaving the next day. I am obviously not going to say how the book ends, but it's a pretty good ending. I can not stress enough; READ THIS BOOK! I am not an animal lover or a circus enthusiast: this book is for everyone!
