The Invisible Man

I just finished The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells. Although the book lacked an engaging plot, I did enjoy the uniqueness of the concept. The writing style called for a slow reading of the book, because it was written in 1897. In order to fully understand what was going on, I sometimes had to reread sentences or at least go slower than normal, which is why it took me a while to get through this relatively short book.
Overall, I would probably give this book a 5 or 6 out of 10. As I said earlier, the plot was slow moving, sort of hard to follow, and the only real action came in the end of the book. But even this was somewhat disappointing. I also felt as if the writing style lacked emotion; it seemed to be more focused on describing what happened rather than really developing characters and showing their struggles. To give the book some credit, however, the ending was unpredictable and I really didn't know how the book was going to turn out. All in all, I found The Invisible Man to be a fairly enjoyable passtime, but it definitely does not crack my list of favorite books of all time.

  1. The Invisible man sounds like a great book! Although i have heard of it i never actually desided to read it! By now reading what you have to say i would ddefinetly love to try this book. In my integrated arts class the other day while studying facial expressions we looked at a trailer for the movie that was actually based on that book. After seeing that trailer and reading what you have written i think The Invisable man is book i would definetly reccomend to others (Even though i have not read it)
