Make Lemonade
I recently finished the book, Make Lemonade by Virginia Euwer Wolff. This book focuses on the aspect of teen pregnancy. Two teen girls change their lives to spend it with the people they love. Jolly, a seventeen year old girl has two kids Jilly and Jeremy. She is having a difficult time managing her job while taking care of her loving children at the same time. Throughout the book, it is teaching me what makes adults adults, and how teenagers take on the role of becoming an adult. Many teens are trying to grow up too fast, and Jolly is one example of this. This book also is an example of how teens learn to manage their time with both school and work at the same time. LaVaughn, a fourteen year old girl, is working extra hard in school to keep her grades up so she can apply for college, but at the same time she is babysitting Jolly's two children, and she eventually helps Jolly have a more efficient lifestyle by putting her kids in daycare, and starting the "Moms-Up Program" which helps her to gain her education back and manage her time through this hard time.
