Temptest Rising

I am half way through a book called Temptest Rising, by Tracy Deebs, and it is about a girl named Temptest Maguire, who lives in California with her two brothers, Rio and Moku, and her dad. She has always known that she was a mermaid and that on her seventeenth birthday would have to make the decision her mom did ten years ago when she left them for the sea. She would either get to stay on land, or go back to the sea. Temptest has always wanted to stay on land and surf with her boyfriend Mark and her friends, but then she meets a boy, Kona, who is a sealie. One night as he was walking home with Kona, she kissed him, and felt the need to return to sea, which she did. And that's as far as I have gotten.
