Perfect

I am reading Perfect by Ellen Hopkins. Perfect is a poetry-based story about how 4 teens on their quests to perfection. Cara wants to be the 'perfect' child, but who struggles with a disturbed brother, overbearing boyfriend and obsessive-yet-always-fighting parents. Stanford is expected; anything in the way will be blasted and bashed out of the her path by her parents, encluding a forbidden love. Kendra will do anything to make it big time in the modeling world, and to her, every calorie is count. To Kendra, flaws will haunt you your entire life, and only surgery and being skinny will save you from a ugly life. Sean needs to hit the perfect homerun, no matter what it takes, and Andre is tied down by his parents and their look on life. These young adults are struggling to achive impossable goals, and their lives are being destroyed in the process. They strive to become what they are not, despite the price they pay. Will they awake from their desire to conqure 'perfection' or will they be pulled down into perfection's depths? Four different teens with four different lives are all unexplainably connected in their paths to 'perfection'.

  1. This book sounds really good. I've heard the saying perfect is only a word in the dictionary and this book seems to prove that true. The theme of something being perfect comes up a lot. The type of perfect these children want to be are very hard to achieve and shows what society has done to people. This book sounds very interesting and I want to read it. It sounds like it is very captivating and has a good topic. It is also written in poetry which must make it even better. I'm excited to read it.
