November and Her Mother

November and her mother seem to have a lot in common. From the way they react to situations to their personalities, one might use the expression,” The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” When November shares with her mother she is pregnant she seems to go through the same emotions November does, first denial and then of course deep depression. November’s mom was already on the edge; having a child who is mentally challenged (November’s younger brother) November’s news was the push it needed. One thing her mother does that November didn’t even think about was tell her about the cost and responsible of having a child. Now as stressed as her mother is, November has a mental break down. After her break down her mother turns on the one thing that helps HER calm down, JAZZ MUSIC. November didn’t understand before her pregnancy, why her mother loved jazz so much. In this moment she realizes jazz helps ease the pain inside. November explains jazz as a magical tool that helps erase some f the pain by playing it out through instruments. When she meets up with Olivia and hears her explain how music relates to life, November feels as though she just might be able to handle being a parent
