I have read two books since my last post, The Death Cure, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon. I'm going to review the latter. This book is about an autistic 15 year old who is growing up in London and discovers that one of the dogs in his neighborhood has been murdered. He plays detective to try to figure out how the dog was killed. However, his search for answers yields much more than just who killed the dog. He figures out secrets that his dad has been keeping from him and learns a lot about his past. This book really shows his growth as a person because he becomes much more independent throughout all of the journeys that he takes in the story.
This book was particularly interesting to me because of the point of view in which the story was told. It was intriguing to see the world through the eyes of an autistic person who thinks with an extremely high level of logic. In his world, everything has a place and a specific function, and when something doesn't fit, it makes him uncomfortable. His way of looking at things probably helped him solve some of the mysteries in this book because it let him cut through all of the distractions and get straight to the answer.
This book sound very interesting and I hope to read it sometime. And i also hope that he finds out who killed the dog because it sounds like he goes through a lot to find out something that doesn't even involve him.
ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like a very interesting book to read. I love the way you put it; “seeing the world through the eyes of a 15 year old autistic boy” because it is a different way to think about things. It really surprises me that someone would care about little things in life; anyway I hope he solves the murder. I guess I will have to read to find out.
