The Batboy

I am reading a sports book about a boy named Brian Dudley who lives in Detroit. He plays for his local all-star team, but before the start of the season he finds out that he has won the job of batboy for the Detroit Tigers. This has been his dream job because his dad used to be an MLB pitcher. His dad now lives in Japan. To make things more exciting, his favorite player Hank Bishop returns to play for the Tigers. Things are not as they seem however because Hank doesn't have the same power that he used to and he isn't exactly in a good mood. So Brian has to fix Hank, and try to get his team in the big tournament, all in the same summer.
