Hunger Games
So I got The Hunger Games for Christmas and found out the movie was gonna come out so I started reading. I finished it and thought it was a cool book, but wasn't really sure why everyone kept getting so pumped about it. I finally saw the trailer for the movie, and unfortunately I think it will end up being another "Golden Compass Fail". I just hope it doesn't ruin the book. I don't know if I want to finish the trilogy because the ending left off on a very stale note. Plus I want to read the war of the worlds since I need to finish the page requirement. I personally felt that Gale's character should've been developed more, and that the author should have explained more about the Seam. I couldn't get a clear picture in my head of the town or the time period (knowing it was post-apocalyptic helped, but not for the issue of technology). I might pick it up again in a few months.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Hunger Games, but I totally agree that it's over-hyped and that there are better books out there to read. Gale could definitely become more developed as a character, but I think that development comes in the later books. I would encourage you to pick up the 2nd and 3rd book because I think they delve a lot deeper in the darker stuff, and the sequels have a different tone whereas the Hunger Games was just scratching the surface in revealing the secrets of the government and the society.
